Well our baby turned two… seriously though how is this happening!? I have decided to pause time and she will be two forever. She is not allowed to get any bigger. So since she isn’t having any more birthday parties because she is staying two for the rest of her life I had to make her Bunny Birthday a little over the top.
I am not going to admit how many hours I spent pinning and dreaming about her birthday. It may or may not have started two months in advance. I narrowed down my theme choices to “Some Bunny is 2″ , ” 2 the Moon” and “Baby Shark is 2, 2, 2, 2, 2”. Each so so adorable but finally landed on the Bunny themed party.
I found the most adorable party decor from Cohasset Party Store on Etsy. She has a shop full of all the beautiful and whimsical Meri Meri party supplies. I picked out the flower plates, bunny napkins, bunny toppers, bunny balloons, spring themed cookie cutters, and gold glitter number 2 candle.
Although the flower plates are beyond precious they are definitely not very functional. On the table I used our normal everyday white plates underneath the flowers so that when it was time to eat we had real plates to use. The bunny napkins are worth every penny SO. FREAKIN. CUTE! These napkins will steal the show and who ever thought they would ever be this excited about paper napkins!? The retro floral paper napkins I found at Ikea and they added a nice punch of color and some function to the party since the bunnies were too cute to even use!
Since it was a kids after all party I kept the tablescape and place settings pretty minimal but with a few extra touches of fabric napkins, chargers, pretty glasses etc you can really make those table as elegant and whimsical as you want.
I used the bunny balloons to mix in with the greenery and florals on my table and mantle.
Every guest wore bunny ears I found from Pottery Barn Kids.
Avri loves seeing everyone with their ears on plus it encourages her to keep her custom made floral bunny ear crown on for a few photos! My friend Tricia makes beautiful felt creations and did not disappoint with these bunny ears! See more of her creations in her Etsy shop or Instagram.
The Peter Rabbit cup came from Pottery Barn Kids as well. They have an entire line of cups and plates all with the Peter Rabbit characters. I chose to keep our bunny party more feminine and whimsical but if you want to go the Peter Rabbit route I would look at PB Kids and Cohasset has some Peter Rabbit party supplies too. When I was planning the bunny party I pinned a lot of Peter Rabbit Inspiration and even thought about making everyone dress up in a denim shirt could be so cute right!? I think whatever you decide a theme is so much fun and we only get one birthday a year why not be a little extra.
The good news is bunny food is easy! Fruits, veggies and dirt! Green grapes on skewers are delicious caterpillars. Flower shaped watermelon. Cups of dirt pudding with “carrots”. Bunny shaped cucumber and PB+J sandwiches anyone? See my Pinterest board and amazon shopping list for Bunny Party food.
It wouldn’t be a bunny party without strawberry shortcake! Now it may have been my first shortcake which I didn’t realize was made different than normal cake (haha gulp) and I might have waited until the morning of the party to bake it (sigh) it did end up tasting amazing although it was far from Pinterest-worthy in appearance. None of that mattered when my little bunny took her first bite and her face lit up because she had just tasted the most delicious cake in her entire two year existence!! This is the strawberry shortcake recipe I followed (here) but I added way more sugar into the whip cream. I did it on taste so I’d guess it was about 1/3 cup of sugar rather than 3 tablespoons! I also put sugar on the strawberry’s before putting them on the cake.
It was a magical day full of smiles, laughter and gasps! My Bunny Mama heart is full and Buddy is exhausted.
