More About Jen

I was born in Seattle, WA and grew up in the Northwest. I lived in Spokane, WA most of my childhood from 3rd grade through high school. I received my BA from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Marketing. After school I had a brief product design internship at Coldwater Creek in Sandpoint, ID before moving to Seattle to pursue a career in merchandising.

My first “real” job was a merchandising coordinator at the thrift store. This was not my top choice as I dreamed of being a fashion buyer at Nordstrom at the time but it ended up sparking my appreciation for finding beauty in other’s junk. Desiring a big change from the rainy weather I moved to the Arizona desert in 2008. After four more years in retail management I realized the dream of being a fabulous fashion buyer wasn’t the direction I was going in. I went back to school and became an elementary teacher in 2013.

After my first year of teaching I felt like something was missing, a job that didn’t feel like a job. I have always been a person who had an entrepreneurial spirit so I finally decided to take a leap of faith and start the dotted bow. My first customers were my friends and family but then it just started growing and as soon as I did my first market I was hooked. This business has been a lot of work but equal amounts of fun. The more I uncovered my artsy spirit that hadn’t been used much since high school I looked into changing my “real job” again. Back to school I went and now I am happy to say I am elementary art teacher! I spend my days sharing my love of art with K-6 students and my nights and weekends working on beautiful things for your home. I feel that I have found my happy work place that is packed with making, imagining and creating pretty things.

I am obsessed with love, words, stripes, polka dots, bows, skeleton keys, old doors, barn windows, industrial elements, & anything  with chippy white paint!  Combining one, two or all of these things into something to decorate your home makes me happy. -Jen Wilson
